The brig Gazelle, from this port, arrived at Auckland on the lat instant, after a quick passage of four days. Out of i 57 head of cattle that were shipped here, 151 were lauded iv Auckland in capital condition. The favorite brigantine Marchioness, is adver tised in the Sydney papers for Wellington and Lyttelton, to leave on the 3rd instant. The s.s. Claude Hamilton, Captain Gibson, from the Southern ports, arrived in this harbor on Tnesday afternoon, she sailed from the Bluff on the sth instant at 6 p.m , arrived at Port Chalmers at 8 a.m., on the 6th, after a passage of fourteen hours; left Otago on the Bth, at 4 30 p.m. arrived at Lyttelton on the 9th, at 330 p.m. sailed again from thence at 430 p.m. of the 10th and arrived in this harbor on the llth, at 2-30 p.m. The s.s. Aldinga. from Melbourne, arrived at Port Chalmers a few hours before the Claude Hamilton sailed. She brought intelligence that the City of Hobart had uufortunately not arrived in time to catch the P. and O. Company's steamer Bombay. The schooner Tamar, from Hobart Town, was wrecked at the Otago Heads on the Bth instant. It was blowing very hard at the time, she missed stays, struck against the rocks, and sunk immediately. The crew had barely time to save their lives ; but we are glad to state that all hands were saved. The s.s. Wonga Wonga, Captain Renner, sailed i yesterday afternoon for Otago direct. We understand that the Wonga has been engaged by the General Government to convey the Auckland. Taranaki, Nelson, and Picton mails to Otago, to catch the Melbourne steamer, and that the N. Z. S.N. Company will receive a subsidy of £200 for this service. The Wonga may be expected back to WeUington on Friday, the 21st ult. The s.s. Wonga Wonga left tbis port at 9 a.m, on the 29th ult., arrived at Picton 3 p.m., same day, left there at 5 a.m., on the 30th, called at Forsyth Island, causing a delay of 2 hours, and arrived at Nelson on the 31st, at 0 pm., left that place at noon on the Ist, and arrived off Buller River at noon on the 2nd, ran into the River at 4.30 p.m., left again at 6.30 p.m. same day, experienced squally weather from the northward, vrith a confused head sea on the passage, and arrived at New Plymouth at 11 a.m. on the 4th. Sailed from thence at 3 p.m. same day, and arrived in the Manakau at 8 a.m. on the sth, was ready for sea on the 7th, but was detained in the Manakau, by a succession of westerley gales, until the llth, leaving there at 2 p.m. on that day, arrived at Taranaki at 7 a.m. on tha I2th, sailed at noon and arrived at Nelson at 8 a.m. on the 13th, left again at 1 pun., arrived at Picton at midnignt, started thence at 3 a.m, on the 14th and arrived in thia port at 9 ajimyesterday*
