CAPE OP GOOD HOPE.

Dsath of Mrs. Livingstone — We regret to learn by papers to hand that Mrs Livingstoue has fallen a victim to fever. The following from the Natal .Mercury of tlie sth instant, furnishes the particulars: — " By H.AI.S. Ariel, commander Ulilfield, which ship arrived at the anchorage on Sunday evening, 3rd August, at dusk, we regret to learn the death of Mrs. Livingstone, of lever, another victim to the climate. That lady having so recently heen amongst us, her death will excito great sympathy here. The hair of Dr. Living, stone's brother is said to have been already turned grey hy the climate. In fact, from what we learn, no one, unless possessed of an iron constitution, like Dr. Livingstone's, can stand such a climate. Mrs. Livingstone, we learn, died of fever at Shupauga, on the 28th of April. Dr. Livingstone, with ttie Pioneer, was about to proceed to Mozambique and Johann, and would probably explore the River Rovooma. The Lady Nyassa was launched about the end of June, and would, on the return of the Pioneer, be towed up the Shire as far as the foot of the Falls, where she will be taken to pieces and carried by land a distance of 35 miles to a part of the river above the cataracts, and there be put together again. There has been considerable sickness amongst Dr. Livingstone's party. The Church mission were all well up to the beginning of July. The tribes about the shire and Lake Nyassa were still tighting amongst themselves, but appeared to be on tolerably good terms with the mission. Ihe Ariel is taking to the Capa some logs of lignum vitce as specimens of the produce of Zambezi ; it is plentiful and gro /vs very large. Lieutenant Burlton, U. N., who joined Dr. Livingstone's expedition by H.M.s ship Penguin, from this port, which sailed on the 22nd May, has returned in the Ariel, having it is said, suffered bo much from the climate, even in such a short time, that Dr. Livingstone ordered his return by that opportunity.— Cape Argus, 12th August).
