TURAKINA.
The Bbidge. — The flood of last week nearly carried away the bridge. It washed away the earth from behind tbe north pier, at the outei end of whicb there was a crack fairly across the road, and. if prompt measures had not been taken the bridge would have been swept away. It is now out of danger, and precautions will no doubt be taken against such another inroad of tbe " angry flood." The Wanganui Races are announced to take place on the 6th and 7lh November. They will extend over two days, and eight races will be run.
