THE SOUTHERN GOLD FIELDS.

Since th.9 publication ot our last Summary, the intelligence from the Otago Diggings has not been of special importance although a report was brought up by Captain Duncan, 'of the Remark, that 20,000 ounces of gold were on the way per escort to Dunedin, from the new field at the Danstan. The diggings there and at the Nokomai have from all accounts been profitable to the miners factually at work, but large numbers were on the ground tmemployed, and the rush from Melbourne which had set in would inorease the already too numerous population on the fields. We await with much anxiety the hourly expected further intelligence from the South.
