COMMERCIAL.

Abgcs Office, Melbource, Thursday, 18fch Sept. The only export entry for gold passed at the Customs' to-day, was for two ounces, to be forwarded by post. The escorts have delivered at the Treasury daring the week 24,440 ounces of gold. Business generally has been dull. In flour and grain, but little has been doing, but prices are well sustained. A speculative demand for Chinese and Colza oil has arisen, and sales of considerable amount are reported — the former at ss. lid. per gallon for cash, less two and a half per cent., and the latter at ss. 4d. per gallon, for cash. Messrs. Frazer and Cohen offered the cargo of Teas ex E. von Bealieu, from Whampoa, and other percels, for sale by auction, but met with but little response from the trade, who, being well Btocked by late purchases, were indisposed to augment their supplies at present ruling rates, Horse Mabket. — Messrs. Row, Kirk, and Co., furnish the following report : — " This market has been pretty active during the paßt week, and a fair amount of business hat been done, a good number of horses having come to hand, nearly all of which were disposed of at satisfactory prices. The principal demand has been for the Gipp's Land diggings and the New Zealand Market ; and although considerable numbers have been purchased and are ready for shipment to the latter place, buyers are still numerous, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of further supplies. Prices may, therefore, be expected to keep up to a remunerative rate for some time to come. At our usual daily sales, second class cart horses realised from £2fr to £35 ; inferior from £8 to £14. Hacks and light-harne3s of every description were in brisk inquiry, and sales were easily effected at and above previous rates. Sales of unbroken stock went off satisfactorily, most of the lots realizing more than their owners' estimate."
