Tuesday, September 30, 1862. Stuart v. Pickering,— Debt £4 10s 7d, (adjourued case). Judgment for amount and cost*.
John Slarks aud Sarah Slarks were charged with drunkenness. The former fined 10s, the latter 20s, and in default of payment committed to the common gaol [at Wellington for seven days.
Regina v. Aaron House. — Prisoner was charged with having on the 20th September ' instant, uttered a cheque for £10, purporting to be drawn by William Hickson with intent to defraud one Alfred Wise. The charge was proved by the prosecutor, and William Hickson, Esq. ; and prisoner was committed to take his trial at the next Sittings of the Supreme Court, and witnesses bound over to prosecute. Wednesday, October 1. Alexander Lewis and Joseph Lambert, charged with drunkenness. The former fined 10s, and the latter 20s. Elijah Wiltou charged with having permitted his cattle to wander at large. Fined 2s, and costs. Edward Toomatb, the like. Charge dismissed. Charles Hewitt, the like. Charge dismissed. Charles William Schultze, tbe like. Fined 6s and costs (Js 6d. Burgin.v. Wall, debt £10, (adjourned case), after a very lengthy evidence, the Besident Magistrate decided in favour of the defendant, with costs. Thursday, October 2. Ikholm v. Samuel Vennell , debt £14, in consequence of the absence of the plaintiff and his solicitor, Mr. Allen and defendant being present. Case struck out of the list. i Frederick Wright, charged with having permitted a horse his property to wander at large in the public streets. Fined Is, and costs 6s 6d. Eliza Pepper, charged with drunkenness. Fined 10s, in default four days imprisonment Fine paid. Friday, October 3. Rosanna Maria Hilton, charged with drunkenness. Fined 20s; in default of payment committed for seven days imprisonment in the gaol at Wellington. Joseph Fred man v. Henrick Shippan, alias Henry Maer,gdefeudant was charged|with acts of insanity, and upon the evidence of several witnesses and two Medical practioners the said Henry Maer was committed to the Karori Lunatic Asylum.
