RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Read v. Frauds Anderson. — Prisoner was brought up this day and charged with on the 10th Jul), lust, haviug feloniously and unlawfully aided and assisted one Francis Madden a piisoner under penal servitude For the term of 14 years in the gaol at Wellington to escape , from the said gaol and go at large contrary to ; the "Secondary Punishment Act" 1854. Prisoner was one of the two that escaped on Wednesday last, and thus by the vigilance of the police was taken at a place 15 miles beyond Otuki. Prisoner was remanded Thursday, July, 17, 1862. Thomas Mc Glua. — Charged with drunkenness, Fiued 10s. iv default of payment committed to the common gaol at Wellington for the space of 4 days. Alfred Lawrence, — Was fiued ss. and costs 6s. for a breach of the Constabulary Force Ordinance for having neglected to keep tbe chimney of his house clean, whereby from tbe foulness thereof the same caught fire. Barrin v. Magee. — Debt, 15s. for firewood. In consequence of plaintiff uot being able to muke out his oase. Judgment for Defendant with costs 7s.

Francis Madden the other prisoner wbo escaped from the Wellington Gaol was captured and brought in to day he was tiken at Ohau, and also a deserter from tbe 14th Itegt.
