NEW ZEALAND INSURANCE COMPANY.
A Special meeting of the Shareholders of the New Zealand Insurance Company was held on Monday, May 12tb, at the Company's Office Fraser's Buildings, S. Browning, Esq., Deputy Chairman, presided. About 20 shareholders were present. The minutes of preceding meetings having beeu read and confirmed, the manager, Mr. G. P. Pierce, read the following Report and Statement of Accounts for half year ended 30th Nov., 1861 : — REPORT. The Directors have much pleasure in presenting to the Shareholders a Report and Balance Sheet for the half year ending 30th November last, and would have called them together at a much earlier period but for the delay occasioned in effecting the arrangements for the extension of the Company's capital and operations. The new Deed of Settlement will be ready [ for signature in a few days : printed proofs are now on the table for perusal. The Directors have decided that the reserve fund and profit for the half year ending 30th November, — less dividend at 10 per cent, per annum, — shall be divided amongst the present shareholders; each share will then be worth £19 3s. 4d., .and the Directors have apportioned to each proprietor three shares of £6 for each share held, and also a bonus of £1 3s. 4d. per share, and they trust this arrangement will be satisfactory to the proprietary.
i The number of the shares absorbed by this arrangement is 1938; 270 have been disposed of at Wellington, 103 in Auckland and other places, leaving 189 (to complete the 2500) for the use of the Company as may be required* The bonus and dividend will be payable at this office, on and after Saturday, the 24th instant.
