Olympic Theatre. — On Monday evening last, according to announcement, Mrs. V\ . H. Foley opened this Theatre tor a short season. During the recess, the house has been repaired, the procenium aud stage re-decorated, and several other improvements effected. The house was crowded on the occasion, shewing that the public fully appreciate the indefatigable exertions of the fair directress in catering for their amusement. The first piece put upou the stage was entitled "A Morning Call." It is one of those elegant little coiredies requiring few, but really good actors, to make it pleasing or interesting ; and that it was both, was fully tes lined by the warm applau.se elicited from the audience. Mrs Foley personated the character of Mrs. Chillingtone, a charming young widow, to the life; and Mr. Swan, as the dashing lady killing Sir Edward Ardent, was all that could be desired, exhibiting veiy careful study indeed. An interlude of singing and. dancing followed, including the beautiful duett of" What are the Wild Waves saying," which was so admirably sung, as to elicijt a hearty encore. The evening's entertainment concluded with the Extravaganza of the ' : Happy Man," which kept the audience in the best possible humour to its close, the quaint playing of Mr. Swan, as Paddy Murphy, tlie " Happy Man," eliciting frequent bursts of applause. At the fall of the curtain, Mrs Foley aud Mr. Swan were loudly called for.
