Captain Western informed the master of the whaler, that war had not been declared, but that great preparations were being made for it, which rather increased than diminished, his alarm. The Lord Worsley sailed on Saturday last, for Sydney via Nelson, with the European and Australian mails, having been detained for the purpose of conveying to Sydney the decision of the Provincial Council with regard to granting a subsidy for a monthly steam service between- here and Sydney.
