The s.s. Wonga Wonga left this port at noon on the 30th ult. with a light breeze from N.W. which shifted round to the south at 4 p.m., same day* and increased during the night to a fresh galo. accompanied by ruueb/heavy thunder and lightning with heavy rain and Hail squalls and thick weather At lOa.m , stopped the engine ani run under easy eail all night. On the following morning when the weather cieared found the vessel 20 miles to leeward of Castle Point and a heavy sea running, made all sail and ran for Napier, and arrived in the outer roads shortly after 4 p.m., on the Ist" inst. Left Napier again on the 4th inst. at noon, after towing -the bark Arabella to the outer roads'; and Castle Point at 11. a.m., on the sth inst.; on rounding Cape Palliser met a strong gale from N.W., with a high sea.'and arrived in this port at 5 a.m., an the 6th inst. , The Hamburgh barque Colima, Capt. Ipland arrived in this harbour on^Sunday evening last, from Hamburg "via Melbourne, having left the latter port on tlie 17th April. She has brought a large and ivaluable cargo of merchandise, besides •• 22 rams and .16 ewes, of the pure thorough-bred Nigretti breed, from'the establishment' of J. F. Hoffschlager Esq.; Mechlenbarg, who had already consigned in the Hermine.an equally valuable lot, which greatly attracted the attention of our squatters and runholders. She is the third direct vessel from the Continent to our-port, and is consigned to Messrs. Kroll & Co.' We understand that it is the intention of this firm to open a branch house in Auckland,and that the Colima will 1 proceed thither, after discharging her cargo for this port. We sincerely wish that this may lead to a more extensive .trade between Auckland. «nd Wellington, a. trade which we consider has been greatly neglected ;.as we should be,glad''to; see*, our merchants participate in the; large .military expenditure that; is now going on In the north." The Danish barque Hermine, Krull and Co., . Agents, after haying completed co admirably her six trips with live stock to Otago, will' proceed to-morrow to Nelson,- to go upon the hard> and after,unjjergoing.a thorough overhaul, will return, to this port. We understand that she has been chartered by a well-known Wanganui firm, for a series of trips, to convey cattle to Canterbury, she has proved Uorp6lf.to.be one of tho finest vessels in this trade, and we hope she will be equally successful under her new^ engagement.
