NELSON.
By the Storm Bird, we have received Nelson 909 ms up to the 23rd instant, from which we b*ve taken the following extracts : — Coroner's Inquest. — A coroner's inquest was held at Motueka, on Monday last, on the body of William Bundy, whose remains we stated in a recent number had been discovered. The jury returned the following- verdict: "The remains of William Bundy were, on the 16th instant, washed up by the sea on the beach at Motueka, but by what means the said Win. Bundy came to his death there is no evidence to show. Accident. — An accident occurred on Monday last, to a man named Tovey, a brakesman in the employ of the Dun Mountain Company whtch resulted in the loss of a large portion of one of his thumbs. Tovey, it appears, while adjusting a chain trace, had his thumb caught in some manner in the links, and tne horse, starting off too quickly, put a sudden strain upon the chain and so tore off a large piece of the upper joint of the thumb. Tovey, though a very steady man has been peculiarly unfortunate as he had but recently recovered from a previous accident which had lamed him for some considerable time past.
