LATEST FROM OTAGO.
The brig Yarrow, Capt. Scott, from Otago, arrived in this harbour yesterda afternoon, having left Port Chalmers on Monday last. She sailed from WeUington on Monday evening, the 7ih inst., and arrived at Otago on the Sunday morning following, without the loss of a single head. The barque Hermine, hence, had arrived at Otago, after a favourable passage and had landed her cattle in first-rate condition, without the loss of a single ' head. The brig Fanny a Garriques, hence, had also arrived ; but had not been so fortunate with ber shipment, haviug lost , 9 head of cattle. There was a considerable falling off in the quantity of gold obtained ; the last Escort bringing down only 3,700 ozs. Tho weather had been very wet and stormy, which had much impeded the operations of the miners. The ship Ackbar, from Londou, with immigrants, anchored at the Otago Heads, just as the Yarrow was leaving. The Red Jacket was about sailing for Melbourne, aud was crowded with passengers. The ship New Great Britain, which arrived from Melbourne at Invercargill, on the 4th instant, made an excellent trip of eight days. She brought 26,000 sheep, having only lost two on the passage.
