THE CITY ELECTION.
Yesterday Air, Spinks was again elected for the City. There was. no opposition, and the S.E. gale compelled tha proceedings to be despatched as quick!? as possible. The Hon. J. Johnston briefly proposed Mr. Spicks, as a member who had Attended to his duties heretofore, and waa therefore deserving of bein^ entrusted to attend to them again. W. ■. W. Taylor, Esq., seconded the nomina* tion of Mr. Spiuks, because having been returned before at the head of the poll, that gentleman bad so acted since as to deserve to be placed there again. No other candidate being announced, Mr. Spinks briefly returned thanks and pro* posed three cheets for the Returning Of* ficer ; a request which he thought fc@ might be pardoned for making, as it was the first time Mr. St. . Hill had appeared 4 in public since his return from England. There were about twenty of Mr. Spinks friends present, notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather and the under- , standing that there was no opposition contemplated.
