I Hutt Mabket. — To-morrow is Hutt Marke Day, and if tbe day should be fine, we antici" pate that there will be a large attendance There is a demand for fat cattle for export, and considerable activity prevails in tbe cattle market. ■ Porirua Races. — Our friends at Porirua. determined to take time by the forelock, are already busy in preliminaries for races early in 1863. Tbe course, with a trifling expenditure, may be rendered equal to any iv the Province ; and from the superior blood lately introduced, we may anticipate that there will be a goodly array of first-ciass horses brought forward at the next meeting, should sufficient inducement offer. We omitted to mention in our repoit of the Porirua llaces, the efficient services kindly rendered by Mr. It. Deighton, in starling the horses, and interpreting to the Maories. Accident. — Yesterday as Mr. Higgie, Jun., was assisting in driving a herd of cattle through the town, one ofthe animals rushed at him and knocked him off bis horse severely injured him, in his bead, and, from the paia he is suffering in his feet, we fear in them also. We trust the Council will take some steps to remedy the evil caused by tbe present mode of driving cattle through tbe town at all hoars of the day. No less than three large herds have been driven through this morning. Either shippers should be compelled to ship at Kai-warra, or else they should be obliged to drive through town early in the morning, before the townspeople are about. The above accideut is not the only warning lately.
