THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Wje have been requested to state that there is no foundation for the statement in a cotemporary that there is any doubt as to the next session of the Assembly being held at Wellington. The matter has, we are informed, been definitely settled by the Ministry, and nothing except very decided indications of hostile intentions on the part of the Northern natives, (of which there is at present no appearance), will be allowed to prevent the execution of the determination ar« rived at. To hold the Assembly at Auckland, when it is oertain that all the Otago, and most of the Wellington, and probably the Canterbury members would be absent, would be so transparent a sham, that no moral weight whatever would attach to the decisions of so mutilated a body.
