Oth day of January, 1862, from persons willing to .Contiact for furnish . ing the undermentioned Supplies, in snch quniili-' ties, at such times, ancl at such places within the Town of Wellington as may be direoted by the undersigned, or by his Successor in Office, during l the twelve Calendar montha, commencing the Ist 1 April next, under the Conditions hereinafter speci- j fled, viz.: — ../. - PROVISIONS, FUEL & LIGHT, I Fresh Meat ~\ ' Bread j Mould Candles V at perTh Sperm Candles of English Manufacture J Coal, Australian, at per ton The Fresh Meat to consist of Beef and Mutton, delivered in the proportion of live days Beef and two days Mutton. Weekly, when Beef is issued, fore and hind quarters are to be delivered to the Regiments or Detachments alternately, six inches to be cut of the Hough and Neck bones, Mutton to be ' delivered in carcasses. Both Beef and. Mutton (in the proportion , above stated) ta bo, issued in detail daily, to Officers and oihers of the ; Staff and Departments, the Senior Commissariat Officer or person deputed by him to have tho* power of inspecting the live Cattle and Sbeep intended for slaughter, ■ iand of rejecting any Animal considered unfit for the use of tbe Troops, the Animals to be killed and ready for the further inspection of tbe Commissariat at such times and places as may be appointed. * The Bread shall be the produce of clean sound Wheaten Flour the beat quality, and baked (24 hours before issue) in loaves of 2 lbs each. The Mould Candles to be properly seasoned by being kept on hand by the Contractor for a suitable period afier manufacture. It will be optional with the Commissariat to bring Coal into more general use, nnd reduce, or even discontinue the demand for Firewood altogether, should such a ohange become advisable. The Contractor will be bound to supply Offioers (and others) with Contract Coal and Candles, delivered at their quarters (ia quantities) not exceeding their regulated allowances) payment for which at the Contract rates to be made direct to the Contractor and no claim to exist against the Commissariat. ' ■ ' The Coal when required for the Naval Sevice to be delivered alongside any of Her Majesty's steam or sailing Ships, in Wellington Harbour, in such quantities as may be required at tbe expense of tlie Contractor. FORAGE FOR HORSES (Ax per Ration.) The Ration to be lOlbs Oats, or Blbs Oats with -lbs Bran, or J2lbs Maize, I2lbs Hny, 81bs Straw. LAND AND WATER TRANSPORT, LAND TRANSPORT. From any v one part of the Town to any other part of the Town, at per load or trip. Bullock Waggons at per day each . Ox or Horse Carts at. per day ench Half a ton weight- or measurement to be considered a load for a oue horse oart, and one ton for a bullook waggon/ ° water Transport. From the Shore to a:iy Vessel in. Harbour, each person at per head Goods at per ton Horses each The Contractors will be required to provide suoh assistance in loading and unloading as is usually given, by Carters and Watermen, and such number of Carts and Boats as maybe demanded, failing which, the power of hiring on account of the Contractor will rest with the Commissariat. Srd — All Government Passengers to be provided with the requisite accommodation iv preference to any Private individual. 4th — The regulated allowance of Baggage for Officers and Men, as well aa Stores for the Government to be to the exclusion of all Private freight, 40 Cubic f«et measurement, or 2240 lbs. weight to be considered equal to a ton. 5lh — Government are not to be excluded from i engaging auy other vessel, or vessels, provided I the Contract vessels are not in harbour; and under 1 any circumstances the Government will retain the privilege of Transporting Troops in Men 61 War, ors vessels belonging to the Colonial Governno'eut. GENERAL CONDITIONS. Ist— All the Articles to be of the best Marketable quality »f their several kinds. Persons tendering are warned I against writing the names of proposed Sureties [themselves as all suchtenders are liable to be rejected. The penalty in each case will be, about one fourth the whole amount that will probably be paid ; under the Contract by the Commissariat. I 3rd— lt shall be in the power of either party to limit the duration of the Contract by giving (in-; j writing) a Notice of three Calendar Months to the ; opposite party, and to end/ the Contract at tbe exj piration of that period.
