Lord Ashley, Cnp'ain Wheeler, sailed from Wellington on the 2ud December, at 4 p.m., armed at Lytieiton on the 3rd, at 12.80 p.m.; sailed the same day at 6.80, and arrived at Otago on the 4th, at 0.80 p.m.; sailed from Otago on the 6th, at 4.30 p.m., arrived at Lytieiton on the 7th at7i3Op.m.; sailed o:i the Bth, at II a.m., and arrived in this harbour on the Pth at 9.80 p.m. Experienced strong head gßles, with high sea, from Ly Helton to this port, which caused the unusually long passage. The brig Fanny A. Gavriques, and the. barque Hermine, hence, with enrgoea of stock, arrived at Otago oi. the 27th November. The brig entered omw«d» at Otftgo for Wellington, on the 87th
November, ond the barque sailed from ihence for Wellington on the sth \usfc. . /. The splendid clipper ship White Stnr^avrived in Lyttelton harbour at an early hour yesterday morn--ing. Sheis by far the largest ship that has;everen. terod this harbour, herroeasur^meut being 2J&O tone. She fcriugs 8500 sh«ep from Moretou Bay,' and bas bad a successful passage, having lost ouly.sjmeSOO on the voyage. As she lies off Golan's bay on the further s|de of the harbour, her vast proportions are not a,t once discernible from the shore* As a proof of her remarkable sailing- powers, it is stated that the time occupied in her voyages to Melbourne averages exactly 70 days.
