IMPORTANT TO SHEEP BREEDERS. SALE OF MERINO SHEEP. TO BE} SOLD BY PUBLIC AUCTION, ON THURSDAY, the 31st OCTOBER NEXT, AND THK FOLLOWING DAYS, IN A FIELD NEAR THE NEW CLUB HOUSE CHRISTCHURCH, CANTERBURY, r jnHE whole of the Mount Eden and Christ--1 church valuable Ram Breeding Flocks of George Rich, Esq., Mount Eden, Auckland, who is about to decline business in the Southern Hemisphere and return to England. ALSO, The newly-imported pure Spanish and Frenoh MERINO FLOCKS, chosen by Mr. Rich, in Europe, with great care, and landed here a few months since. The imported Sheep will bo sold SINGLY, unless otherwise agreed upon nt the time of sale ; some of these will be sold each day. The Mount Edeu nnd Christohuroh Shakspere Merino Flocks will be sold in lots of FIVE EWES to suit purchasers, and to enable each sheep holder to become bis own mm breeder. The following is a list of the Lots which will be offered for competition : — 235 Two Tooth and Four Tooth Rams, 100 are Two Tooth, and by imported Spanish Rams, out of the Mount Eden Ewes. COS Shakspere Merino Ewes, from Two Tooth upwards, 100 of which are by imported Spanish Rams. 400 Ram and Ewe Lambs, more or less by imported pure Spanish and Shakspere Rams, out of the above Ewes. C 5 Imported Spanish Ewes, 15 have a dash of French Blood j about 40 of them will lamb in Jecember next, by the Prize Ram, 10 Imported Spanish and Frenoh Merino , ' , Rams, one of which gained a first-class "'"' prize iv Germany two years following. The Weights of the Fleeces from these imported sheep clipped iv Englaud, clean river washed, as follows : — French Merino Ewes averaged lOlbs. each. Spanish do. varied from 71bs. to lllbs. of wool, eleven months and a half growth. Imported Spanish Rams, sires of the above mentioned yearlings and lambs, clipped last season, over Islbs. each in the grease. The Auckland Mount Eden Shakspere Merino flock has been removed to Canterbury, partly owing to the disturbed state of the Northern Island ; and Mr. Rich has since decided to dispose of the whole of his Mount Eden and other sheep, and to return to England.The Ewes have been selected fov Ram Breeding, and their wool has been most favorably reported on by Mr. Hughes, the eminent wool broker of London. The imported Spauish Merino flocks is of ancient and pure blood, the fleece being remarbly fine, Very closely set, and of great weight. . None of the Ewes of this flock have ever been disposee of since their importation from Spain. This is one of the most valuable flocks of sheep ever offered for Sale in the Southern Hemisphere. At the same time will be sold Mr. Rich's mare " Matilda," a German sheep Dog, and a patent German Ear Brand. The imported sheep follow the call of the shepherd. ' The whole of the sheep will be sold with the wool on. If there is a good attendance and fair competition at the at tlie Sale, it is Mr. Rich's intention to dispose of the entire Flock without reserve. Terms will be given at time of Sale.
