Tho schooner Osprey, Capt. Irvine, arrived here on Sunday, from the Society Islands, with a car- | go of lime juico, cocoa-nnt oil, bananas, oranges, pine apples, cocoa-nuts, lemons, limes, codec, and arrowroot. She brought two paasengera. After a trading voyage amongst the islands, she finally left Rarotonga on July IG, making her passage thence in 32 daya. Sho reports having experienced very heavy weather all tho way down, close reefed topsails being the order of the daj'-. On August 14, one of the crew, drawing a bucket o. 1 water, fell overboard ; some spars and an empty barrel were at once thrown over the vessel's side, and she was hove- to. A boat, was launched immediately, and the man picked up floating on the barrel. She reports having spoken the Zillah, about twelve miles from Couvier's Island, the I Great Barrier bearing S.W.— Southern Cross. > | The French frigate Iphigenie, 44 guns, Captam Lantneaume, arrived in Sydney from Port . de France, New Caledonia, on the 21st July. Ine Herald says, she is hound home, having only called in for the purpose of provisioning. She sailed from France direct to New Caledonia with . troops, and it is therefore her first visit to this port. At present she only rates as a transport, her armament having been landed in France for tbe accommodation of the troops. The weather during the passage from New Caledonia had been one series of N.W. gales. No vc&sels are reported as having arrived or being sighted on tho passage. —A. Register, August 2G. The clipper ship Ida Ziegler, Captain Reynolds, arrived in port on Wednesday about 1 p. m. Though not altogether realising her 'antecedents,' she has nevertheless, accomplished an excellent passage of 90 days from Gravesend, and 80 days Irom the Lands End to the Three Kings. The Ida ■ Ziegler is a ship buiit at Bremen upon the Aberdeen principle, and from a design furnished by an eminent builder of the Scottish City. She is 204 feet in length, with 34 feet beam, and measures BGO tons register. She is, as Messrs. Willis, Gann fr Co., remark to a Dublin Correspondent, a very showy, (we say a very handsome) ship, but she is not built of "soft wood," but of " brave old oak," nor is she " off the letter," but still retains her place there, with the assurance of re-classification when required. There wero neither births nor deaths. She has come into port in a very clean and creditable condition, and her passengers seem to have been so well sutisfied with '.the ship and ship-master that they have bestowed a weighted testimonial of their approbation. , The barque Frowning Beauty, Captam W. Marr arrived from Sydney, after a tedious passage of 19 days, on Monday afternoon ; she took her departure on tho lst inst., and experienced a very dirty passage across, the prevailing \vind being from the south-east, with a great deal of rain. Fatched Cape Maria Van Diemen on tho 12th day out, and had to thrash up the coast part of tha time under double-reefed topsails. She brings 56 horses for the Commissariat out of 59 shipped, a circumstance, the length and character of the voyage considered, which redounds greatly to the credit of those in charge, more particularly as the survivors are reported to be in good condition. There are also two Timor Ponies on board, the property of Captain Marr. The ship hauled at once to the Queen-street Wharf to discharge—//. Begister, August 26.
