Mr. Borlase appeared as counsel for prisoner, and after a lengthy hearing prisoner was found guilty; and in consideration of prisoner's good character he was sentenced to fourteen days' imprison, ment with hard labour. Thomas McKoy, the younger, was charged by the Inspector of Police with having committed a breach of the Arms Act, having offered for sale, in barter, a guv to a native of New Zealand. Albert Austin.— Charged with having on the night of the 6th instant, assaulted the complainant with intent to do him some grievous bodily harm. Sentenced to 21 days' imprisonment. Bowler v. James Parry. Defendant was charged by complainant, who is the consignee of the ship Golconda, with having deserted from the said ship whilst lawfully engaged as seaman on board the Golconda. Sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour.
