A few hours after leaving Sydney, a hard gale sprung up from the [E.S.E., which lasted five days, without inter]miBsion. Afc intervals, it blew with the fury of 'a hurricane ; and when at its height, the barometer had fallen to 29. 15 Nearly the whole of her sheep aud poultry were drowned by the sea, which continually broke aboard ; and several fine horses, the property of Mr. Potter, ■ with two belonging to Mr. Hill, fell a prey to the fury pf the storm. '■ Throughout the passage, experienced but one day's moderate weather. . She left Nelson at 10 a.m . on the 26th, and arrived here after a fair passage of J 3 houra. We have to thank Capt. Kennedy and the purser of the Lord Ash_ey, for having courteously funrnished us with the latest English and Colonial papers. The Lord Ashley sails to-day for Canterbury and OtagO. ■>:■: By advices received by the European mail, we learn that the Danish clipper barque Hermiue, Captain Berg, was to sail from Hamburg, for .Wellington via .Melbourne, on the SOth April last. She is. consigned to Msssrs. Krull and Co., and will be the second vessel of the intended regular line between the Continent and this port. She brings, bssides a well assorted cargo. ; 40 valuable rams, selected from a celebrated German flock. She may fee expected to arrive here about the end of September next. j The ship Thames City, from Newcastle the 4th instant, arrived iu this harbour on Thursday last, after a passage of 19 days. Her cargo consists of 790 tons of cools. The barque Aurifera, Cuptain Dambrill, from Newcastle, bound to California with , a cargo of coals, put into this harbour on Sunday the. 26th instant. She sailed from Newcastle on the let [ ot May, and experienced extremely Uoisterqaa weather from the fourth^ day after leaving,, and has siuce suffered from three cyclone _t torms, which damaged her bulwarks,, spars, and 'jutij.. Captain Dumbrill beiug uuwell, ilirough suoh continued anxiety, came here for medical assistance, and get the damages sustained by his vessel re paired if possible. ; The b. s. Storm 'Bird, Captain Malcolm, from ■Nelson via Picton. arrived in this port on Sunday evening last.
