Green and R. Woodgate, in the New Zealand Advertiser of the 20th Maron, on the foln lowing couditions: — # # The schooner's fore-rigging requires repairing a with rope which is uot procurable in Wellington, and as soon as this is done, of which J. P. Oakeb will give due notice, the match may come off. • Both vessels to carry no more sails than those usually known to be carried by each vessel, square 3 sails also excepted j with reference to a statement a in the advertisement, signed by Captain Green and t Mr. Woodgate, that this is the second challenge, c the undersigned begs to state that the first challenge came from the " Aquila to the "Juuo" and the '•'Emerald Isle"; and that on taat occasion he offered, as there was no prost pect of all three vessels being in the race, to sail c ihe schooner against the ketoh on being allowed ■1 one minute per ton for difference in tonnage, or if 1 preferred, he wculd change vessels, and allow t Capt. Green two minutes per tan. n The Challenge offered by the " Acquilla " was accepted by the "Emerald Isle," but as the backers of the cutter and the ketch could not agree, the race did not come off. i JOHN P.
