The schooner Dove, from Napier, arrived in this harbour on Sunday night last, after a passage of eevendaya. She sailed from Napier on Monday the lOth instant, experienced southerly winds nearly the whole passage with a heavy sea on. Spoke the Aquila off JPalissierßay on Sunday morning, bound to Napier. Tho Satelite, from Auckland, the JUTary Thomson, from Wellington, and a brig from Newcastle was lying at Napier when tho Dove left.
H. M. S. Fawn, Commander Oatorj sailed for Taranaki oh Friday last. We understand that she will take the place of the Niger, at Taranaki, the latter vessel having been upwards of four years in commission, and under orders from tho Admiralty to proceed home at once. Thero are now four steam ships of war on their way to Hew Zealand ; and on their arrival, wo trust the claims of Wellington for protection, and as a central rendezvous for Her Majesty's ships on this station, will not be overlooked.
