THE Evangelical Alliance of London having invited Christians throughout the World to hold Special Services for Prayer during the eight days from Sunday, the 6th January to Sunday the 13th January, the Christian residents inWellington are respectfully invited to attend a series of Devotional Services, which -will he held in the Congregationa Church, Kumutoto, on each of the above evenings, commencing at 7 o'clock— similar services having been arranged for in other parts of this Colony. With a view to give something of precision and agreement in worship, the following subjects have been suggested for thought, prayer, and exhortation. Sunday, Jan. o.— The promise of the Holy Spirit. Moxday, 7. — An especial blessing on all the services of the week, and the promotion of brotherly kindness among all those who love the Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Tuesday. 8. — The attainment of a higher standard of holiness by the children of God. Wednesday, 9. — A large increase of true conversions, especially in the families of believers. Thursday, 10.— Tho free circulation of the word of God, ftnd a blessing upon Christian literature. : Fbiday, 11.— A largo outpouring of the Holy vSpirit upon all bishops, pastors, and elders of the Churches, upon all seminaries of Christian learning, and npon every Piotestaufc missionary among Jews or Gentiles, upon the converts of his station, and upon his field of labour. Saturday, 12. — The spsody overthrow of all false religions, and the full accomplishment of the prayer " Thy Kingdom come " Sunday, 13. — Tliansgiving for past revival ; and the enforcement of the solemn responsibility resting on every Christian to spend and be spent in making known the name of the Lord Jesus Christ at home and abroad. It is hoped that this recommendation will be acted on by the Christians of Wellington, and that they will manifest a general union in the holy work of seeking God. H.
