Bethune & Hunter's Officea, August 31, 1860, the Bishop of Wellington in tho Chair, it was resolved — " That the resolution of the Taranaki Aid Committee of Nelson, in which it is said ' That thk Committee feel.-, that the aid proposed tobe granted by the settlera of Wellington, would be extremely useful if judiciously administered in relieving individual cases of special hardship,' supported as it is by private communications which have been laid before this Committee, fully confirms the opinion already expressed, that there is ample occasion and an urgent call for all the liberality that has been displayed by the inhabitants of this Province, and furnishes motive for continued exertions for the same benevolent purpose."
