In the Journal of Events October 8, will be found a very full account of the surremlei of ' this rebel, and of his being lodged iv prison. Six other rebels gave themselves up; but strange to say were allowed to remain at large. Wi Kingi, on hearing that Big Joe was about ■ to be shot ard the others imprisoned, immediately sent out to make reprisals, and took three Europeans, and v»as about to put them to death whed a native who saw the whole tun - action gave the correct account, and the Europeaus lives were spared. A Court of Enqiihy has bean sitting on the prisoner, and all parti; ■ who can give evidence have been direct 3d to do so -if not actually one of the murderers ;'t appears tolerably. sear be was privy to th<yn.
