JEWS OF MOROCCO RELIEF FUND. LONDON COMMITTEE OF DEPUTIES OF BRITISH JEWS. AT a Meeting of the Board specially convened on Monday evening, 7th November, IPSQ Sir Moses Montefiore, Bait., President in the Chair The following Resolutions were unanimously adopted — That the Beard learns with {he deepest feelings of commiseration nnd grief, thnt owing to the war which it is expected will issue between Spnin and Morocco, the Jewish inhabitants of Tangier, fearing a repetition of the brutal usage which they experienced when the wild Kahyle tribes came down to the coasiin I?U4, have fled from their homesin a state of utter destitution. Nearly 2.700 of these unhappy persons have arrived from Tangier at Gibraltar, and it is but too probable that they may be followed by many thousand others from many parts of Morocco. A !"cal cominitiee of the Jewish residents of Gibraltar htvs been formed to relieve, as far as practicable, this vast nmount of destitution ; and their efforts are being jrenerousfy nirted by the Christian community of thnt town ; nor is it possible to speak too highly of the energetic nnd benevolent exertions of the Governor, his Excellency Sir George nodringtnn". Still at vhe date of the last advices, very many of the sufferers, including young women and childien, had no resting place except the bare ground ; and it is quite impossible that the exertions of the benevolent, confined to the locality, can avail to nny extent, in alleviating such overwhelming want. Under these melancholy circumstnnceSa this Board has formed itself into a Committee of relief, with power to add to its number; and energetically appeals to its co-religionists, not only in this coui.try, hut throughout Europe and other parts of the world, for the earliest practicable assistance. Nor cau it venture, in a case so un precedented as this, to deny itself the aid of benevolent communities and persons, without distinction of creed, whose philunthropliy may induce them to proffer assistance. With reference to the above, it has been unanimously agreed that a Subscription list he opened by this Congregation, and that an earnest nppeal be made to the whole of our fellow-colonists on behalf of the sufforiug Jews of Morocco.
