THE Wellington Independent. Friday, February 3, 1860. THE STRAKER CASE.

Blisha Smith, the Acting Sheriff, to the effect, that the punishment of death inflicted on Charles Striker has been commuted to penal servitude for life. The terms of the commutation show, that had not efforts been made to prevent it, the extreme penalty of the law would have been carried out.
