Capt. Everingbam having by diving managed to stop one of the holes which had been made ■to scuttle the vessel, at 3 o'clock on Tuesday morning six californian pumps were set to work, and so vigorously were they plied, that with the assistance of some 60 hands with buckets, the vessel had arisen about 22 inches within the hour. This cheered on all bands to renewed exertion, and by half-past seven the remains of the unfortunate vessel were safely moored alongside the William Hyde, a result which was greeted with hearty demonstrations) of satisfaction by a large number of spectators ou the shore and on board' the different, craft iv the Port.- There is a considerable quautity of cargo still on bQard, most of which, yye understand,'has" suffered no injury froth its long submergence.^ — Colonist, Jan. 2Q.
