Hayden), was received w ti mUcb a >plau-«>, and is really (for what it was intended) an effective piece of writing, being poetical iv its language and allegory — an 1 very happy in Us local allusions. Mr. Hall md bis pupil followed in their wonders on La Trapeze and La Perche — and being no acrobat ouvsplves it is impossible to give a fair critiqie nn this performance, it must be seen as, we have said before, to be believed* ••Villikin's and his Dinah," brought the evening's amusements t.i a cKse, : but we regret to say* that through Mis< Manuel's severe (though, we hope but temporary) indisposition, the burlesque lost much of its attractions, though the remainder of the "di'am itis persona " were quite as efficient as on any former occasion, the piece wad however most indulgently received, and the curtain fell to what we should judge, a highly pleised and contented artdtende. We regret to learn, that in all probability, -jtr. Hall may shortly leave Well in gton'on urgent private affairs, we trust however, his absence, if go he must, will only he atemoorary one. In the meantime he takes a benefit, and short as has been his Play 'here, he richly deserves one, and be wjll. we trust, have a bumper. Loyal Rose of the Valley Lodge, Hot;.. --rhe Anniversary of this Lodge was celebrated by a dinner and ball on the 2nd Instant, at the Odd Fellow's Hall, Hutt. About 6 o'clock Mr. Wilson wis called to the Chair, and Mr!, Wood the Vice-Chair, when about 50 of the 'brethren sat down to partake of a suuintuous entertainment which was provided by Mr. Corbett, and consisted of every delicacy of the season, which was done ample justice to by all present. After the cloth was removed, the usual loyal, patriotic, and fraternal toasts were given and responded to in the most hearty manner. After the roasts were disposed of, the Hall was cleared forthe ball. The dancing commence at 9o'clock. The ball was attended by all the beauty and fashion of the district, there were upwards of 100 per-sons-present, and, although the hall was a littlg crowded, all seemed to enjoy themselves amazingly. Dancing was kept up with great spirit until an early hour, when the oompany tepara. ted and expressed themselves as having enjoyejj a first rate evening's entertainment. ;
