Seven Stars Inn, at G o'clock p.m., on tho 4th instant, at which I presided as Chairman, I herewith enclose, for insertion in your newspaper, copies of the lour Resolutions and two Amendments proposed, with the sense of the meeting thereon. Second Amendment to No. 1 Resolution ~ Moved by Mr. J. Hursthouse, seconded.by Mr. Siiarland; and negatived. Hesoi.vkd—That the opinion of tiie Public lie ascertained by an easy plan of taking their names, rnilier than by n uaucil show of hands on these occasions. Second Resolution. Moved by Mr. .1. N! Watt, seconded by Mr. Charles Davy, and carried unanimously. TtF.sor.vEn—That this meeting views the Cons'itiiiion of the Hundreds of New Plymouth aid Qmntu in this Settlement, without the consent or knowledge of the settlers, as an arbitrary exercUe of.power; and that it pro.esls the I'roc'.i;mation of the said Hundreds, as an infringemeit of the claims of the New Zealand Company's Compensation Scrip Holders, as it thereby excludes til' ir ngh': of selecting or pnrclinsing with Scrip wi;,.in the limits of the said Hundreds.
Third Resolution. Proposed by Mr. W. IC.' Hulke, seconded by Mr. Weston ; and carried.
