A GENTLEMAN, intimately acquainted with the most approved system of Education as pursued in Scotland, offers his services to the community of any Town or European Settlement in New Zealand (provided a moderate share of encouragement be granted) in the conduct of a School, where the usual branches of a sound, complete, and liberal Education will be Vaugbt—sound in reference to the utility of its distinctive branches, complete a3 regards the adaptation of the instructive course to tbe particular profession or busiuess destined for Youth, and liberal as suiting all classes, and embracing the whole range of our present knowledge, with direct reference to the wants of a free, busy, and enlightened age. The Advertiser's efforts will be, not the shadowy and valueless exhibitions of superficial attainments through overwrought memory, but substantial intellectual proficiency, fostered by encouraged action of tbe reasoning faculties, and would therefore press upou the attention of the Colonists generally the urgent necessity that exists of Teaching the Youth of New Zealand something more than was taught two or three centuries ago. An Instructive Moral and Religious course will be taught ou the basis and broad principles of Christianity, without reference to dogmas or creed.
