THE "Wellington Independent." Saturday, August 10, 1850.
The barque Fairy Queen,,Ca,\)t. Doyle, arrived in port, on Thursday last, from London via Auckland, after a., passage of eight days from the latter port. By her we have received Auckland papers to the 3rd of August, copious extracts from which -will be found in this day's issue.
We understand that a schooner has been e'hartered by Lieuit-Goveraor Enderby to proceed to the Auckland Islands with supplies. His Excellency appears to be a most enterprizing and energetic person, and we have not the least doubt that success will attend his operations. We believe he is anxious that a trade sheuM be commenced between Wellington and his seat of Government, being assured that it would be equally beneficial to both settlements. His Excellency returns to the Auckland [islands on Monday next, and >not to Sydney as has been stated, alter his yacht has undergone, some repairs, which she requires, having met with severe weather on her passage to this plaoe. The Auckland is an exceedingly pretty little craft, and sails remarkably fast.
Two vessels have been built by the Company's nrtizen, which were nearly, completed, and shortly to bo.launched.
A person had been dispatched to Sydney for supplies previous to his Excellency's departure for this place, and is expected back by the time the Auckland returns..
