THE Members of the Britannia Lodge, M.U.T 0.F., contemplate erecting a large Building on Lambton Quay, as a Hall for their meetings, as well as for a Public School and Library. i, For Public meetings, and for re-unions of evendescription, the Hall of the Institution will be found of the highest importance. '- But the promoters of this undertaking rely upon [. their fellow colonists for support on far higher grounds. They intend, with the assistance of intelligent settlers, founding a Public School, not sectarian, but devoted to the education of children of all casses and creeds. From the - revenue of tbe Building, it is intended to,set apart such a sum as shall secure the services of an inti lligent teacher, , so that children may be taught at such a moderate figure as will enable the poorest man in the place , to give his little ones that instruction without which there is great danger of their becoming a prey to * society in after life. A Library will be provided, to -which yearly ad- * ditions will be made, and subscribers to the Building will be enabled to have at all times access to the j: books. Subscribers names will be received at the office of the Independent, at Mr. Lyon's, at Mr. Roe's, at Samuel -& Joseph's, at Messrs. Johnson & Moore's at Mr. Taine's," at Mr. G.
