AUCKLAND.

JVrom the A etc Zealan&er. The Natives.—We continue to receive -satisfactory accounts of the tranquilityuof the Northern districts; though our correspondent describes .the state of feelino- ; amongst the Native Chiefs, to -be that of • a cold and suspicious-jealousy of the Govvernor and his, proceedings. Although peaceably inclined, they are-very far from sentiments of esteem and respect ■for the Government. The troops have removed from sVictoriato'the Wahapu. Hekf has recently visited Kaipara, and tpassed some time with.his relative Parore, >-at Kaihu. .He wasaccompanied by ab»ut forty men several women, and received by die Kaihu people -with every demons-, • tration of respect. Numbers of pigs were slaughtered, and large.quatuities of potatoes provided for his entertainment. Our correspondent says, that Parore As very reserved when questioned respecting the purport of this visit, and is evidently unwilling .to relate what.passed. We are .given to understand, however, that in the •event of any future outbreak, Parore's allegiance would' be submitted to a vety -severe test; and that it.is extremely doubt<ful which side he would espouse. Many of Kawiti's people have been industriously -engaged in getting out spars for the vessels now loading.at Kaipara for England. -The Kate Capiain Grant.—We 'Understand that a marble monument, of very ehasio design, and superior execu'tionj'has been forwarded from England "in the Agincourt, to by the ftiends •and relatives of the lamented Captain tyrant, who fell while gallantly leading on his company of the : 58ih Regt., to the assault on Heke's pah, at Ohaeawai.— Ihis token of the affectionate remembrances of his surviving friends, will be erected over the mouldering -remains of the hero, who was finterr&d at Paihia, a >fitation of the Church Missionary Society. New JquitNAL.—Another Auckland paper, with the singular title of" The Antipodean," made its appearance on -Monday last.
