WRECK of the 'SARAH BERRY.'
Mr. Thomas Beny, owner of the cutter Sarah Berry, has forwarded us a communication containing the distressing account of the loss of that vessel. The cutter Sarah Barry, bAong'm to Nelson., with eighteen passengers on board, two of whom were women and six children, was driven on the bar at Wangama on the west coast, between four and five o'clock, p.m.,,0f the 27th June. It was blowing a gale of wind at the time, and very little hopes were entertained for the lives of thote on'bourd. Mr.'Wallace, a. Wtsleyan Missionary stationed at "that place, exerted himself in a most praiseworthy and humane manner to save tha sufferers. Through hie influence he induced a number of natives to swim off to the vessel by the only practicable channel, and by.this means the whole of the lives were fortunately saved. The vessel and cargo was valued at £900, the whole, of which was totally lost. The humane conduct of Mr. Wallace did not rest here. He clothed the poor women and children, and the rest of th e passengers and crew, who were totaly destitute, having lost every thing }• fed them, and procured natives lo guide them io

The party arrived safe at Auckland,"but one' of the women lost her toes, through the frost. .Mr. Berry come round to this place in the schooner Kate. He desires to express bis grateful acknowledgments to tho Rev. Mr. Wallace for his humanity;, whole of the whole-of- the sufferers. rpor ourselves we think that some testi.nionial ought to be presented to that <jentleman for his praiseworthy conduct. Such, conduct it is impossible to speak too • highly of.
The Government brig Vietoriabafl lost: her fore Toot and false keel in Poverty Bay. She had returned to Auckland and was undergoing >repair 3, on completion of which she was coming on -here.
It was expected that the barque Mary Catherine, driven *)n shore -in Kajpara, would be got off.

H.M.S. Castor, 36 guns, Captain Graham, arrived'in port yesterday from Sydney via Auckland,'having been seveni teen days on the passage. •'She brings a large English mail, Captain Graham having kindly wai'ed twenty hours till the •mails for.the different-settlements were ■sorted. The Castor has also brought the new funnel for tbe steamer Driver. A man was sent off last night with despatches for his Excellency at Porirua, informing him of thearival of the Castor.
