His Excellency the Governor has directed it to be notified that he has caused a party of Soldiers and Police to be stationed at the Ferry, at Porirua, for the protection of all persons, European and along the coast «,o Wellington. 1 That Cattle, Pigs, &c M can now be driven into the Town without molestation; and that all persons, European or Native, bringing wheat or any other produce to sell at Wellington, or coming thereto make purchases, will be protected. Any individual, either European or Native, who may be in any way molested or injured in passing along the rond, is re-: quested to state the circumstances to tho ; Officer in Command at Porirua, that fhe Government may obtain redress for them. It is further notified that, in order that the produce of the Country to the North of Port Nicholson may be more easily brought into market, his Excellency the Governor is about to have a good Road made from Wellington to Wainui. i M.
