WESLEYAN SUNDAY SCHOOL.
The Fuurth Anniversary of the above school w*s held at the Wesleyan Chapel, in Mannersstree, f on Sunday and Mndaythe 12:h and 13th instant. The Tea Meeting on Monday was well attended. The Rev. Messrs. Watkins, Ironside, Woodward, and other fiiends of the *chopl addressed the meeting. The report of the Commijee, (after acknowledging the debt of gratitude due to the Teachers, twelve in number, who without hope of fee or reward give tbt-ir lime and attention to thelibour of teaching) states, that upwards of 300 children have been admitted into the school since its first establishment, "and although the nnsrttied state of £he country, the general uejirefefwn of trcJej and*whe£i>nsKJirr:i.£re-eai:gra tion to other coiouies of many ' families whose chldren attended tie school, ii might be ez,>ec,ed the school w.:u:d be sensibly uiaainished, yet there I are now 131 cluljren on the bo. ks of the echo 1; i the ar. rage attendance, however, owi:ig to the sc.ttered state of the population of our stragging town, b ing not more than 70." A supply of books having been provided through the kindness of Mr. Woodward, Congregational Minister, a hbrary was on the eve of being established, for the use of ibe Teachers and scholars. The Committee and Teachers also purposed-to institute a weekly eveuing school, for instruction in writing, Hrithmetic, geography, &c. To promote the efficiency of the school, and procure a more regular and cheap supply of books, the Committee, had joined the institution to the Sunday School Union, a Branch of which had been formed in New Zealand. During the meeting, a collection was made for the benefit of the Institution, amounting to nearly £8.
