Extract of a letter from Sydney, 3rd instant, received by a mercantile house in Launcesron-:—' The Garland Grove, chartered and loaded last reason fir Liverpool, by Buchanan & Son, was 153 days out at list advices from England, and is sup. posed to be lost by the manganese ore having ignited, either by contact with tallow, wool, or water. Ships here loading, are discharging manganese for fear of ignition, in consequence of the rumour.' ExaminerExtract of a private letter.received from Hobart Town, dated Nov. 25, 1845. " A fins ship, be longing to D. Dunbar and Sons, called the Rausrlies, apparently 700 or 800 tons, came into port this morning, 103 days from London, with artillery, said to. be for New .Zealand, although 1 cannot get information of particulars. She is an unexpected arrival, I believe, and brings no mail. Amongst the cargo of theELPHiNSTONE, the vessel which conveyed G>vernor Grey, from Adelaide, we observe the following mnnitions of war.:—' 350 carbines, 350 bayonets, 350 scabbards, 150,000 percussion caps. 110 belts, pouch ; 5 moulds, bullet brass; 110 plates, bayonet be;t, 110 g]ings,,carbine; 260 nipples, 100 wrench nipples, 110 pouches, black ; 110 belt?, bayonet.' This looks like a determination on the part of the British Government to prosecute the war in New Zealand, if necessary.—Launceston Advertiser. November.l 3, sailed the brig Louisa, 182 tons, Milton master, for New Zealand. Passengers Capt. Grant and lady, Lieut. Chalmers, Mr. Paterson, Mr. Hunter, Dr. M'Donald, and 108 rank and file, ten women, and twelve children, 11th regiment. The brig Nelson, 200 tons, Capt. M'Laren. was advertised in Hardy's Shipping List, of the Uth of July, to sail on the 20th of the same month, for Ndson, Wellington, and Auckland. The barque Enmore, 280 tons, Capt Ellis, was advertised in the paper of the same date, for Nelson, Wellingtpn, New Plymouth, and Auckland, to sail on the 10th August. We are informed by Captain Lovett, of the Royal William, that it was expected th*t the Nelson bug, would either at H)bart Town or Port Phillip, previous to her coming to Wellington. The Lady Leigh, which belonged ip this Port, has been sold at Hobart Town, for £1,050. The following vessels have been sold at Hobart Town, viz..:— The Ariel, 160 tons, £1,100 The Brig Nimrod, ? goQ The brig Maguasha, 200 tons 700 The brig Palmyra, and a new schooner of 80 tons, daily expected to arrive from Launces.ton, and the Bandicoot, were also for sale, but no buyers. The Bandicoot was advertised for New Zealand. Eleven vessels were at anchor in the Port of Auckland on the 22nd November; seven of which number were either vessels of war, or had been under charter to the Government for the conveyance of troops and the requisite stores to carry on the war at the Bay of Islands. The cutter Ann and Sarah, saw a large ship in the Strait?, bearing for Cloudy Bay, supposed to be an English or colonial whaler.
