TO OUR SUBSCRIBERS AND FRIENDS.
The Proprietors of the " Independent " agnin jippear tj claim from the Public a patronage, ■which, on a farmer occasion, it so liberally bestowed upon them. By the operation of circumstances <xccedingly favourable, we have be n enabled ta procure the materials requisite to enable us to carry on the capsr. 'But at the same time we have to apologise to our friends for many imperfections, which we trust to their kindness to overlook, In bringing out our journal, after so short a lapse of time from the arrival of the necessary apparatus, many little errors must have crept in, which on v future occasion may be aA'oided. For the present uur papir will be issued every Wednesday morning, and we promise to exert ourselves to the-utmost to render cur periodical both instructive and amusing.
Our country .friends will not be forgotten, for we wish to render tire '• Independent" serviceable to farmers and intend'ng settlers in the bush.
We trust our commercial readers will find, in our columns, sufficient matter to interest them. We shall endeavour to give at all times the earliest shipping intelligence, and information likely to prove useful to the place.
