Captain Dawson, has, we understand, chartered the Stains Castle to the Local Government as a transport for the period of three months. The Stains Castle sailed with troops for the Bay of Islands on the 27th April, accompanied by the Velocity and Aurora, schooners, They had oa board in all 380 troops and 40 volunteers. It is probable the Velocity will come to Wellington, after returning to Auckland from the Bay of Islands. The New Zealand Journal of the 9th November, has an advertisement from Mr. Earp, stating that he would despatch a vessel for this and, other New Zealand ports, on the 10th January last, now more than four months since. The Kate, schooner, Captain Salmon, sailed for Sydney on the 16th April, with oil, bone, and manganese as cargo, and several passengers, and among the number Lieut. Symonds, some time Police Magistrate in Wellington. The brigantine Velocity from this port, arrived on the 24th of April, at Auckland.
