NELSON.
The Sarah Jane arrived from Nelson on Sunday night. She brought a mail but the information in the Examiner of the 26th. April and 3rd May, the only papers, by the opportunity was furnished in our last paper. We have been furnished with the following extract from a letter dated Nelson, the 7th. May, which may prove useful to some of our readers:— " The Comet sailed on Sunday last, (4th of May,) for Sydney, and she returns to this port immediately with sheep and horses, under contract." We derived much pleasure the other day from a ride over the German farm at Ranzau, The Messrs. Kelling have, during the last week, cut and carried, with most favourable weather, six acres of very capital barley. They have also down about three acres of oats and a small quantity of linum. The linum will be manufactured into linen by some of their immigrants, They have forty acres of land broken up and ready for wheat and rye, which will be sown in the course of a month, Considering that these gentlemen only landed here last September, the progress that they have made is most satisfactory. The farm at Ranzau, in another season, we make no doubt will vie with any in the colony.— Examiner.
