THE INDEPENDENT COMMITTEE.

We have thought it due to our Subscribers, friends, and supporters, to place our Committee before them. By reference to the engraving? it will be seen they form a Board of Green Cloth, and deliberate carefully not only upon the articles to be inserted, but criticise with dignity and becoming gravity, the general appearance of their broad sheet before they offer it to the public. They are alive to the eagerness for the latest news, which rail-road speed has begotten, and therefore take care always to have waiting in attendance members of the family of the gentleman, whose name it is not proper to mention to supporters so respectable as those by whom the "Independent" in sustained. Thru have instructed, us to declare that their news may always be relied upon, as they are acutely sensitive to the outrage upon justice which attends-even successful attempts at " invention. ,.

NOTICE.

As yet sufficient time has not elapsed to enable us to make arrangements for exchanging papers with establishments in the other parts of this and in the neighbouring colonies, tee are consequently put to some inconvenience in obtaining the latest news ive therefore, feel much obliged if our friends would afford us an opportunity of perusing any late dates they may procure from time to time, so early as they can conveniently spare them.

TO THE PUBLIC.

Mr. A. A. Heese, storekeeper, near Kumu Toto, Larabton Quay, has kindly offered to become an Agent for the sale of this paper. Copies will therefore be left at Mr. Heese's store, every morning of publication, and will thus prevent the inhabitants of Thorndon and its vicinity from coming all the way to Te Aro for numbers of this journal.

NOTICE TO SUBSCRIBERS. Our Subscribers are respectfully requested to leave their addresses at (he late ' Gazette , Office, Manners Street, Te Aro, so that their papers may be forwarded regularly to them, on the morning of publication.
