Basketball Draw
The draw for matches in the Waihi Basketball Association's competition on Saturday is as follows: At 1.30 p.m.—Mataura. v. High School A (referee, Miss Nola); Demons v. St. John’s (Mrs Cleary); F.’gh School B v. Old Girls (Miss O’Brien). At 2.15 p.m.—Mataura v. Convent (Mrs Cleary); Old Girls v. Demons (Miss O’Brien); St. John’s v. High School B (Miss Nola). Praise For Amateurs An increase of more than 17,000 on last year, to a total of 449,453, was registered in radio receiving P censes throughout New Zealand up to March 31, said the PostmasterGeneral, Mr Broadfoot, on Tuesday afternoon. He expressed his pleasure at the increase in the number of amateur radio operators “who frequently do such good work in assisting us in providing emergency radio communication.’’ At - March 31 there were 1985 private experimental stations licensed, compared with 1853 the previous year.
