Income Tax Payable The Commissioner of Taxes draws the attention of taxpayers resident in the Hamilton tax district to the notification in this issue that the due date for payment of income tax by taxpayers of the Hamilton tax district (other than companies) is Wednesday, April 9, 1947, and that the 5 per cent, additional tax will accrue if not paid on or before April 30, 1947.

Housing Ex-servicemen A further 76 State rental houses were allocated to ex-servicemen tenants during February under the system of 50 per cent, preference to war veterans. This brought the total number so allocated to the end of that month to 6526. Normal Production j When the men returned to work la3t Tuesday after the Easter holidays production from the Waikato coal mines was almost back to nornal. The output of 3150 tons from he seven large underground and three State open-cast mines was about 700 tons below the daily average. The lower output was probably accounted for by some absenteeism. It was expected that an improvement would be shown in the returns for the rest of the week.
