ACADEMY THEATRE

CURRENT PROGRAMMES •'Barnacle Bill," featuring Wallace Beery and Marjorie Main, will be repeated at the Academy Theatre tonight. 'i'uddin' Head," starring Judy Canova, will head the programme at the Academy Theatre to-morrow. To the inimitable comedy talents of Judy Canova are added some top-notch music, sterling performances by an outstanding cast of supporting players, including Francis Lederer, "Sinn" Summerville, Eddie Foy Junr., Alma Kruger and Raymond Walburn, and first-rate direction by Joseph Stanley to make if figure as screen fare that will strike a responsible chord in every viewer.

Mystery, intrigue and excitement are the keynotes of Monogram's "Double-Crossed," starring Charles Carrell and June Lang, which will be the supporting picture. It is said to he a wide-awake expose of Nazi spy

activities and the counter espionage work of the Secret Service. The picture tells the story of a Federal agent who is assigned to protect a brilliant scientist who has perfected an instrument to detect night air raiders. The scientist, is kidnapped, however, and the agent is faced with tlu dangerous task of learning his whereabouts and unmasking the leader of the Nazi agents.
