Paul Ilenreid. of “Night Train” fame, portrays the De Gaulle airman and commander of the ace R.A.F. Black-and-White Squadron who is shot down during a raid over Nazioccupied France, and who finally is smuggled back to England through tlu- bravery of the little French girl. Thomas Mitchell. Laird Gregar, May Robson, Alan Ladd. Jimmy Monks and Jack Briggs enact, other principal roles in "Joan of Paris.” which will be shown at the Academy Theatre to-night. Hilarious Red Skelton spreads mirth wholesale in “Whistling in the Dark,” comical adaptation of the Broadway stage hit to be shown at the Academy Theatre to-morrow and on Friday night with Skelton playing,- his fust starring role as a radio "ciime creator” faced by criminals co invent a practical “perfect murder” for them. His antics and adventures in escaping with two girl frauds maintain a continuous gale of laughter. The comedian has for a sweetheart Ann Rutherford. while Virginia Grey plays her love rival. The girls stage a battle over Red which is one of Cm top spots in the general hilarity.. Conrad Veidt, mystery man of “A Woman’s Face,” plays the sinister erjtist leader who stirs up all the comical commotion. “Rags” Ragland, eofuedy hit of Broadway, adds to tbe hilarity.
