CONDITIONS FOR SEPTEMBER MORE WIND THAN USUAL Weather conditions in Waihi during September are reported on as under by "the official local recorder, Mr M. F. Temperature: Mean temperature for month in screen, 52.8 deg. Fah.; highest maximum, 69 deg. Fah. on the 17th; lowest minimum, 33 deg. Fah. on the 7th; lowest grass minimum, 32 deg. Fah. on the Ist and 6th; mean earth temperature 2 feet down, 55.6 deg. Fah. Wind: Total run for month, 3337 miles; daily average, 111.4 miles; greatest run in 24 hours, 250 miles on the 26th. Rain: Total fall for month, 8.08 inches; greatest fall in 24 hours, 2.95 inches on the 2nd; number of days on which rain fell, 24; average September fall, 6.91 inches. •Sunshine: Total of bright sunshine, 171.8 hours; daily average, 5.7 hours; brightest day, 10.4 hours on the 26th; sunless days, 1. Remarks: Though the rainfall was only a little over' the average, rain fell on no fewer than 24 days. Temperatures were mild, and no frosts were registered at this station. There was more wind than usual, generally from the west. The amount of sunshine was above the average for September.
