RECLAMATION OF WASTE

PEOPLE ASKED TO SAVE PAPER AND CARDBOARD STORAGE FOR COLLECTION It is evident from inquiries made at the municipal office that a number of people in the district are saving waste paper and cardboard in answer to the radio appeal made recently. The secretary of the Waihi Patriotic Committee, Mr E. C. Westbury, is advised by the provincial supervisor for the reclamation of waste that because of a shortage of storage space, no collection of this waste is to be made for the time being from areas outside the main centres or larger towns. In the meantime residents are ask - ed to save all the clean paper and cardboard they can and store it in a dry place against the time when a collection will be made in the smaller and outlying districts. Although there is no information on the point as yet, it is thought from correspondence in hand that a collection period for country districts will be arranged.
